Marilyn J John has been involved in Public Health for more than 25 years, on a national and international level. Her areas of expertise include:  HIV/AIDS, Women’s Health, International Health, Community Mobilization, Organizational and Cultural Diversity, Immigrant Health just to name a few.She is greatly respected for her work as a presenter, trainer, program developer, consultant and advisor to several public health institutions both in the US and abroad.   She has received numerous citations and awards for her work and serves as an advisor to many organizations, including governments locally and internationally. In 1996, she developed and implemented the first Women and HIV/AIDS Program, which included a state of the art female condom education and distribution project, for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She has held many positions with New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene since 1995 and included Special Assistant to the Assistant Commissioner, Director of the Women and HIV/AIDS Program and Special Populations Coordinator for Immigrants and HIV/AIDS.Ms. John continues to work in several African, Caribbean and European countries to design culturally sensitive programs, as well as provide training for key personnel in these regions. In 2003, she received a Woman of Great Esteem Award for her work globally at the UN Millennium Hotel in New York. She is the recipient of numerous awards and citations for her work. Dr. John is the Vice President of a prestigious NGO, A Heart Relief Organization with headquarters in Ghana. The Organization since 2000 has made and continues to make a great impact globally. Recently, the organization launched its Global Read A Book Project (GRAB) in Ghana, an initiative supported by the Ghanaian government. The organization has been asked to launch this initiative in several other countries including the Caribbean. As a visionary and expert in women’s health, program development, organizational development and evaluation, Dr. John has been called upon by many organizations for guidance in these areas. She is well known for her work globally. She is a preacher of the gospel and travels the world in this capacity impacting lives spiritually and mobilizing the faith community around HIV/AIDS and other health issues. She oversees several ministries in Africa, Europe and the US.   She is the proud mother of two sons, Kendall and Jerell.
